Petropolis News!
Nestle Purina PetCare, a major sponsor of the Petropolis exhibit in New
York City, has recently brought Virtual Petropolis
online!
If you loved the concept of Petropolis but weren't able to attend, now you
can get an experience of the real world exhibit from wherever you are. Take this
link directly to the online exhibit page, or you can reach it from the
Purina corporate web site. Thank you, Nestle Purina, for making Petropolis available
to a much wider audience!
The
Petropolis Exhibit
If you will be in New York City from July 15th to November 9th 2003,
you shouldn't miss the Petropolis Exhibit at the
New-York Historical Society.
Carole was the initiator of the concept for Petropolis and she believes Petropolis will improve
people's understanding of the importance of pets to human society
generally, as well as their importance in our
lives individually.
Amy Sachs of The New York Daily News gave Petropolis a highly favorable
review.
Mark Rifkin of the New York Resident really
enjoyed Petropolis, calling it "Playful and Poignant". He gave Carole lots of linage, too.
Here is an Adobe Acrobat file of his review,
which appeared in their July 21, 2003 issue.

Presented in partnership with The Humane Society of New York, this
extravaganza of animal imagery and accoutrements from the Society's
collections and from private and museum loans spans several centuries in
order to examine urban pet history and related civic conflicts. Designed
for family exploration,
Petropolis offers insight, humor,
inspiration-and, most of all, affection for our many animal companions in
the city.
Petropolis:
A Social History of Urban Animal Companions is made possible
