Cat Carrier Angst

  • How can I get my cat to accept the carrier so it’s not such an ordeal when I take her to the vet?
  • A  Leave her carrier out in one of her fave spots and offer her catnip in it.  Leave small treats. You can even feed her in it. This will create a positive association, and the fact that she returns home from the vet in her carrier, this will increase her acceptance of it.

Scratch Happy

  • Q  My cat has started to compulsively scratch his legs and other parts of his body. What’s going on?
  • A  It sounds like it might be a food or other type of allergy. Schedule a vet visit to check out the problem.

Chatty Feral Cat

  • Q  Why do you think my recovering feral cat has started to talk more?
  • Her pent-up angst is being released in meows as she becomes more confident. As she talks, praise her, and that will increase her confidence and self-esteem.

Bedtime Feral Companion

  • Q  I’m curious as to why my recovering-feral cat will sleep in my arms at bedtime, but we can’t pick her up.  By the way, she’s fifteen-years old, and it’s only recently that she’s started this bedtime habit.
  •  Congratulations! You’re more relaxed when you’re in bed, and this relaxes her and increases her confidence and trust. What a terrific break-through!
