FAQs – Cat Behavior & GIFs (Sept 2023)

** This Month’s Quote And Cat Behavior Questions ….

** Rabies    ** Nail Trim      ** Eye Care     ** Tub As Litter Box

Rabies

  • Q Does my cat need a rabies vaccination?
  • If he is going to go outdoors where he will be exposed to rodents or wild animals, a rabies vaccination is necessary.  If he is bitten by a rabid animal, your cat can be infected with rabies.

Nail Trim

  • Q Can I trim my female cat’s nails?
  • A Yes there’s a special clipper you can purchase. Also, have a few scratching posts for her to exercise on and to keep her nails trim. Her nails should be clipped regularly to keep her from getting hangnails and to protect your furnishings from getting scraped and scratched. Clip below the red line (the vein), or you’ll have a bleeding, hurtful nail and a very unhappy cat. Give her a reward both before the pedicure and after, so she regards it as a happy experience.

Eye Care

  • Q Is there anything I should know about the care of my cat’s eyes?
  • If he gets “sleep” in the corners of his eyes, you can wipe them gently with moistened cotton. Do the same if his eyes are runny. However, for anything remarkable, consult your vet.

Tub As Litter Box

  • Q  How do I discourage my cat from using the tub for his business?
  • If you have already ruled out the possibility of parasites and are sure your cat is not giving you a parasite report, and his anal glands are not full, make sure you clean his box frequently so he doesn’t have any sanitation complaints.  If he still favors the tub, keep a small amount of water in it to discourage him.
