Although a non-allergic cat does not exist, a Siberian cat is considered hypo allergenic, as it produces much less of the Fel-D1 allergen protein in a cat’s saliva than any other breed. When a cat grooms, the saliva with the protein is transferred to the cat’s coat which causes dander.

So when Nanette found out her boyfriend was allergic to cats, they adopted two eight year old Siberian sisters. There are some allergy sufferers who cannot tolerate a Siberian cat, but although there was a short adjustment period, Nanette’s boyfriend has not had an allergic reaction to their cats’ dander, and these two older sisters found a new and loving home.
