24 Jan A Forever Home For Special Needs Sparky
A cat may lose a forever home because of specific food needs.
“I realized that Sparky probably bounced from home to home, because of his special needs,” was a text from Susan.
Sparky was now five-years-old and had already lived in two different homes before Susan adopted him from Stray Cat Blues. He had a chronic bladder condition that could be controlled with special food. Now in his forever home, where he was the solitary cat, and could — but did no wrong, Susan was grateful for the positive effect of his bladder friendly food. However, she felt the cost of his food might have been a reason why Sparky’s former guardians had to part with him.
A Potential Provision for Cats With Food-Specific Needs
Susan mentioned that she was given a generous supply of his special food when she adopted Sparky. She could manage the cost of Sparky’s food but wondered why there couldn’t be some provision to assist those guardians who couldn’t.
“I’ve decided to contact the maker of my Sparky’s food to see what they can do to remedy this situation.”
I told Susan that her communication could lead to a buzz-worthy safety net for cats with food-specific needs.
