A Cardboard Cat Scratcher Of Discontent

Their Cat Feud Started Over A Cardboard Cat Scratcher …..
(Inter-Cat Hostility, Rivalry)

Bunny and Polar’s session recreated their signature bliss

Bunny, four years old and her companion, Polar, a year younger were the best of buds until they each wanted exclusive ownership of their cardboard scratcher. Polar chased and hissed at Bunny who fled from his abuse. A second duplicate scratcher didn’t restore their relationship, so their guardians contacted me to treat this catastrophe.

My Diagnosis
During their session Polar did not go into attack mode, and Bunny’s facial expression lightened. My diagnosis was that their feud was a symptom of angst that was exacerbated by their rivalry for attention.
It was the #Me Too Syndrome. Polar felt Bunny was getting more attention,. He felt neglected and Bunny became his tension target.

Polar and Bunny had a breakthrough during their seession

Progress Report— 4 Days Later
“The cats are doing SO well since their session with you. Not only have there been very few scuffles, they’ve been sleeping in the same areas together. We have been playing the music and acknowledging them both regularly. I’ll keep you posted.”
