27 May Cheeto Mirrors Nancy’s Emotional And Physical State
A recent email …..
Hi Carole,
I’m so grateful for all that I’ve learned from you. I’ve been able to create successful introductions with even the possibly most difficult situations. I’ve been meaning to write.
This past year, since right before the Pandemic I faced my biggest challenge yet. To keep it brief, I now have a good prognosis after a bout with early breast cancer where I had 16 rounds of chemo prior to surgery.
I have been able to care for my cats, Ginger and Cheeto, with family assistance. I lost my hair, had double surgery and am doing PT and taking chemo pills.
Ginger has remained unaffected through it all. Not Cheeto. He suffered emotional trauma in his prior home and was more vulnerable to the changes. He can be a little nippy, which we’ve helped change by gaining his trust. Plus, play, play, play! He’s come a long way but when I had drip treatment he became more nippy and aggressive with
me.
I almost wrote you, but something you said stuck in my head ….. that Cheeto was sensitive to what I was going through and perhaps he picked up on my affected and changed body movements. Anyway, we’ve weathered the storm and Cheeto’s back to himself. I continue to move forward. My hair is growing back and treatment is winding down. Thanks again for your guidance.
My Reply …..
Nancy, yes, Cheeto mirrored your discomfort and angst so that his behavior became out of control. So glad that Ginger’s m.o. was able to cope with your changed behavior and that my books and consults have guided you as a guardian. Your cats are so fortunate that you and your family are there for them.
